Mountain Girl Farm is located in the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts. We are a mother and daughter team raising dairy goats, ducks, chickens and guinea fowl.
This adventure started in 2014 when Jen was looking for a career change after Katie went off to college. Then Jen inherited a few back yard chickens from a friend. Next was the purchase of a $10 goat at a farmers market. Then the desire to raise animals without cages and provide food to the community grew quickly.
We purchased Mountain Girl Farm in 2015 and now the girls enjoy roaming 5 acres of pasture and woodland everyday while foraging and playing in the most natural environment we could offer them.
Farms nurture and now we have grown to offer much more that eggs. In addition to raising quality dairy goats we operate a full farm kitchen & bakery as well as growing seasonal fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs.
We always tell everyone that we had no idea what we were doing and through trial and error we are finding our way.
Our hens are raised as naturally as possible without cages. They roam and forage all day, every day. These girls love to be out in the pasture to hunt for worms, bugs, seeds and their favorite grasses and foliage.
The ducks love drilling for worms and snails under the fallen trees and branches.
We supplement their diet with quality poultry feed and fresh fruit and vegetables. Did you know that chickens LOVE watermelon?
Of course they are offered plenty of fresh water and an occasional treat of goat milk - a favorite on a cold winter morning.
Whether it be our fabulous goat milk soap or a delicious treat from our kitchen or bakery we invite you to browse our products and give a few a try.
We promise every product is hand-made by us, from scratch, using the most natural ingredients available to us.
Of course we love special orders for your next event or gathering.
